Self Defence and Employee Well-being Programmes

 

More and more I’m being asked to provide self defence training as part of employee well-being programmes, and rightly so. Self defence is an essential life skill that not only helps your workforce protect themselves and avoid dangerous situations but also improves confidence and self-esteem. And that can only be a good thing - for individuals and employers.

 
 

WHY INCLUDE SELF DEFENCE IN YOUR WORKPLACE WELL-BEING INITIATIVE

Corporate wellness programmes tend to focus on physical fitness, self-care and mental health. Self defence training actually supports all of these areas as it provides a number of benefits:

  1. Employees feel more confident in their own abilities, leading to higher self-esteem and a general feeling of empowerment.

  2. The physical aspect of the self defence course is stimulating and motivating. We often get comments afterwards from participants saying they would like to do follow up self defence courses and asking for martial arts class recommendations.

  3. Staff who have taken part in self defence training feel safer, have more peace of mind and can be less prone to stress. Travelling alone, that walk from work to the train station at night or a dark car park isn’t quite so scary if you know what to look out for and how to protect yourself.
