Coronavirus, COVID-19 and Self Defence Training

At Streetwise Defence we’re 100% committed to the safety of the people we train and our instructors. We’ve made a number of changes to our self defence training to ensure we are following best practice guidelines for Coronavirus, COVID-19.

Covid-secure self defence training

We are open and are providing training throughout the UK - both for individuals, executives, small groups and businesses. Training can be delivered virtually via Zoom or in-person, safely.

We review each request for training and assess the individual situation to determine the best way to deliver it, whether this is safely in your home or garden, at a leisure centre or a place of work.

We complete a Covid risk assessment for every training session and work closely with you to ensure that you are happy with the arrangements.

I booked Dene for a one to one session for my daughter who is due to go away from home for the first time. We held the session at home due to the situation with Covid. Dene was very health and safety aware and kept us up to date with his own health from booking him through to the day of the session. He kept in touch and has been very approachable and up front with my questions and was willing to do anything he could so that we were comfortable with him in our home. He brought along and used his PPE and ensured we were all comfortable with the precautions.

Changing dates and refunds

If we have arranged training with you, we’ll contact you 48 hours before to check the training can still go ahead. If it is not deemed safe to carry out the training, we will move your date to a mutually convenient time, at no extra cost or provide a full refund.

Private tuition

For personal one-to-one tuition, we ask for a location that is well ventilated. An outdoor space or large room with open windows or doors would be ideal. We also ask for all participants, including our instructors, to take their temperatures on the day of training and to wash their hands prior to and frequently during the training. We’ll bring appropriate PPE with us and discuss with you arrangements that you feel comfortable with.

Small group sessions

As always, we’ll work closely with you to determine the most appropriate format for the training. Depending on the location of the training, the number of people and your preferences, this may include:

  • An education-based training class with limited physical interaction between trainees and instructors. When there is physical interaction it would be with appropriate PPE and hand-washing.

  • An education-based training course with no physical interaction between trainees and instructors. We would provide the crucial learning to help people be aware of dangers and avoid them, plus offer demonstrations of the self defence techniques.

  • Smaller class sizes to allow for social distancing, with good ventilation of the room.

  • Infection control procedures such as hand-washing on entry and exit of the course.

  • You may wish to take the temperatures of your staff/trainees prior to them attending the self defence training.

  • We will, of course, ensure that all equipment is fully cleaned and sanitised before and after the training.

Questions?

We look forward to sharing our knowledge of self defence in a safe and appropriate way. If you have any questions or would like to get a quote for training, please get in touch.
